EXP3: Mashup article

What is modernism? Modernism is a philosophical movement, which first emerged in the early twentieth century, it means current or present. Modernists believe that ornament should follow the structure and the purpose of the building. Modernism is also described as being a break with tradition, and as typifying everything that rejects the inheritance of the past. Paul Greenhalgh outlined key features in modernist design including function, progress, anti-historicism and social morality.

Modernist architecture by allowing a great deal of repetition of elements without variation, buildings could reflect modern technology. Modernity is constantly in conflict with tradition, intends that we should move into a brand new world.

EXP3: Design in process (Sketchup Model)

Design Theory:
The sketchup images I posted are the school support structure, which inspired by Sendai Mediatheque, a public library located in Japan. Because of the unique landform of my valley, I think the shapes of 12 column support structures are well matched up with my valley. As for my school,12 different spaces will be designed at the support structure's different level then each of them will be connected by a bridge.

EXP3: Final chosen Valley - Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (China)

This my final chosen valley where located in China, called Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. The landform of the Park is original idea that inspired the movie "Avatar"
